INTRODUCTION

First Consultation
We discuss what you'd like to see on your property and how you plan to use your yard.
I show you my Portfolio and describe different styles of landscape, plant palettes and choices in hardscape construction.
I ask your budget for the project so I can design a landscape that you can afford to install and maintain.
This first meeting is free for people living within 50 miles of Santa Barbara.

A landscape is more than a collection of plants. A landscape is an artifact, an intentional construction designed to create emotional impact. A landscape provides a setting, a stage for your home. Landscape should enhance your house, reflect your style, provide you with outdoor "rooms" for play, work or retreat and offer beautiful views through every window and door. A landscape is your personal environment, which should soothe, refresh and inspire.

A landscape that meets those goals does not just spring up. It is created through thoughtful planning and artistic vision. As a construction, a landscape is built from many components that must be properly integrated to look good and to function correctly.

These components are
1. Site preparation, including grading and drainage
2. Hardscape, such as patios, decks, walls, paths
3. Plants, chosen to thrive on the site
4. Conservative Irrigation and Drainage systems
5. Accents, such as lighting, fountains or pots

But here is the best part: my Landscape Designs look like Fine Art. Each design is a cohesive composition of color and form, one giant painting, in which all the parts coalesce into one harmonious whole, seamless and serene, encircling your home.

If you're looking for something unique in landscape design for Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, please give me a call at 805 450 1149. Our first consultation is free and full of ideas!

Second Consultation
We meet to discuss the Concept Drawing.
We can make changes to it, if desired.
We discuss the probable cost of installing the landscape previewed by the Concept.
If the Concept is accepted with only minor changes, I can then tell you the cost of the complete set of Design Plan Drawings, which are much more detailed.
Typically, the final Design Plan is twice the cost of the Concept Drawing.

Concept Drawing
I measure your property, take photos and determine the soil type.
I draw a Site Plan to scale.
Prepare a colored illustration, in Plan View, which shows the general layout of the Landscape Design that I'm proposing.
Prepare pages of photos showing the Plant Palette for this Design Concept, e.g., Mediterranean plants, succulents, Ca natives or tropical plants.

Design Plan Drawings
At our third meeting, I deliver the finished Design Plan and "walk you through it."
This Design Plan shows every element of your new landscape: hardscape, irrigation, plants and extras like lighting or fountains.
These detailed Design Plans make it easy for a Landscape Contractor to prepare a Proposal (or bid) to do the job for you.
I provide two copies of the Design Plan, so you can keep one to use as your Owner's Manual for future maintenance.
